Conscious Thanks & Giving

Nancy Noack

Giving thanks is not a means to an end; it is an evolved way of being.

To give of our time, talent and/or treasure with loving awareness means that we focus our intentions before, during and after the act of giving. To be conscious in all we think, do and have is the aspiration of most of us on an openly spiritual journey. But maintaining a state of high awareness isn't always as easy as it sounds. It takes commitment, discipline and devotion to being mindful and authentic, especially in the face of chaos and confusion.

A Heartfelt Thank You

To be truly grateful is to feel the words before you think or say them without expectation of a return. By expressing our thanks, whether to ourselves, a higher power or any other beautiful being, we open the channels for the Universe to pour more blessings into our lives. There is a plethora of scientific research to back the spiritual wisdom that feeling grateful can have a powerfully positive effect on our body, mind and soul. And by virtue of the Law of Reciprocity, this results in such experiences as improved health, increased opportunity and overall well-being. But giving thanks is not a means to an end; it is an evolved way of being.

"It's not how much we give, but how much love we put into our giving"

- St. Teresa of Calcutta

A Gift from the Heart

We take the time to consider what or how we can best give in a way that is most beneficent to the recipient and is also a representation of our genuine self. So often, we get caught up in the rush of the world, especially in the holiday season, and buy gifts because they're on sale or donate to charities as expediently as possible so we can move on to the next item on our never-ending to-do list. But when we take the time to reverse the process and start with what the recipient might experience upon receiving our gift and work backward to what is a genuine offering we can provide right now, we transform the gift itself into a sacred act of loving kindness for all.
